  • At home with Valerie, pulled this one after a long week...Still hanging in there. Nose had a little old furniture/shoe polish to it...unusual for a Silver Oak. Didnt detract from the wine, smooth and well aged on the palate. Red fruits, "dusted" cherry, currants, tea. Medium finish. Tannins fully resolved.

The wine still drinks well, I may have a particularly well stored lot with my bottles. It is getting close to a tertiary phase. Best guess is to drink over next 3-5 years.

PS - still good on Day 2...a good sign the wine has some shelf life left

  • This wine was every bit as good as the bottle I opened a year ago. An excellent choice for a fine Italian meal with friends.

  • Might be the best Silver Oak I have had. It came out of the bottle really nice, then even opened up over the next 45-60 minutes. Usually I find Silver Oak with fantastic bones but a bit of an agressive tanic structure. This one dropped the agressive attitude and displayed complexity, strucuture and very nice soft tannins. Good nose and nice Cab finish, if I could poke at it at all, the finish wasn't as much of a mouth full of velvet as I would like. Nice Wine!!

  • Given time to rest this was a delicious bottle of wine full, deep, dark? Everything a good cab should be.

  • Had not drank this wine for a number of years but opened up a bottle when a friend came over. Really enjoyable. Burnt cherries and mocha, finely balanced and a powerful finish full of fruit and tannin. Maybe it could have a touch more complexity but great stuff all the same.
