I opened this last night as I am in the process of making my way through many of our wines of this time frame, succumbing to the unfortunate event(s) of being emptied into the sink glass by glass. We had a holiday party last night, and I pulled this and a few others as backup. I was totally blown away by how good this was, though!
With a ton of red fruit upfront with the lingering barnyard funk mid-palate (in all the best ways possible), finishing with a velvety smooth back end that begged to be savored. It was sad to see the last of it go for sure. But I was excited to see that last bit emptied into my glass!
There was little to no sediment, which I thought was shocking. And, we decanted it for a good 90min+. Or at least that was how long it was sitting out before I got done cooking and took my first sip.
After so many horrible bottles, to the point where I began to question the age-ability of so many well-known Dundee/Yahmill/Carlton winemakers, this was a huge excitement to re-kindle my hopes and expectations back into appreciation for the Oregon wine region again.
The night ended with me finishing the last sip, wishing I had another bottle or two in the cellar, and IMO what more can you ask for?
Consider drinking very soon if you are lucky enough to still have a bottle or two, as I suspect they won't last much longer.

Just drank a bottle from my collection bought 3 years ago and paired with pork chops and a day later with Swedish meatballs with broccoli and asparagus - very soft with elegant finish tasted blackberry and current...excellent wine, deep ruby color, and structure. In waiting 9 years, I believe it has reached its peak.

Less collapsed than the portly 2005 or 2008, the high test alcohol makes it not a winner for me.

At a party we did six different vineyards of the 09 vintage. All in excellent shape and drinking well.
