2013 New Year's Day Tasting (Marietta, GA): Golden color. Rich, aged nosed of dried fruit, honey, and lots of lemon. I love the screaming minerality on the finish. Showed austerely at first- would recommend giving it some airtime to open up and fill in just as you would a Burg.

Bürklin Wolf, mainly 2009s: Tasted blind. Dark yellow - the colour led me to expect petrol on the nose, but no, a dramatic, luxurious botrytis scent, like a (sweet) auslese from a rich vintage. Dry entry, of course, with rather flabby, watery fruit and a very short finish. I guessed Wachenheim, but got the vintage wrong (2003, I thought - but of course it wouldn't have had so much botrytis in such a hot year). Drink up. 87P
