The Force Majeure / Grand Reve wines usually overperform, but this was unimpressive and finished a little tart. Similar impressions on day 1 and day 2.

I read the 2 reviews of this wine by WS and WA. I like Harvey S but he got this wrong. WA nailed it. Perfectly stored since release in my cellar and it was quite youthful still. Nose has some dark fruit, spice and green pepper notes and is quite interesting. Palate starts rich, dark and interesting with silky smooth mid-palate that is broad and full. The finish is long and luxurious, very smooth and silky. Would buy again.

Opened on my birthday after three weeks of being on a sugar free diet so maybe that affected my taste tonight however, was very good. Double decanted and poured out of an aerator and enjoyed with a rich lasagna. I know, I really messed up the diet. Lots of heat but smooth along the tongue, definite currant spice with some earthy minerals as well. Not what I remembered from the release at winery, but like I said, I am probably flawed tonight and definitely will be after the bottle is done. :)

Wow. This has evolved nicely. In drinking window. Dark berry, glycerine, tobacco, leather; some spiciness- syrah like (perhaps the WA state influence). Nice balance and texture. Very enjoyable.

Damn, this was good, better even than I expected. No details, it was part of a long evening. Wish I had more. In youth I preferred the Collab 2, and I still like that wine; but the Collab 1 is outshining it now.

(Grand Rêve Collaboration Series I Red Wine Ciel du Cheval Red Mountain) Fairly closed up at the moment. Dusky spice and dust on a nose redolent with olive, currant, earth, and kisses of chocolate. On the taste, rich and intensely focused fruit and firm but polished tannins. More opulent than the 2004 offering. 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, 12% Petit Verdot, 12% Merlot. Aged in French oak (70% new). 14.5% alcohol. 200 cases produced. Ben Smith (Cadence) winemaker.
