Lush and deeply flavored, still fresh, with fine tannins, this is the definition of classic California Cabernet. Loads of dark fruits, nuanced licorice, and a long tail. Wonderful. Drink now - 2030.

WB DC Offline - Mostly Napa (Bistrot Lepic): Deep ruby. Tobacco and reduction on the nose. On the palate high acidity medium alcohol full body, high tannins, still kicking, chocolate and black cherries. Night and day compared to the 96. No rush on this one.

Another excellent bottle of the 1997. Gorgeous blackberry, blueberry and mineral notes with Howell Mountain pine needles in the nose. Palate has density and breadth that is carrying leather, gravel, loam and other tertiary notes with the dark fruit.
The oak notes hold this back a few pts from really top vintages, but a joy nonetheless.

Decanted one hour. Robust and beautifully aged Howell Mountain Cabernet, delicious but definitely on the path to becoming old bones. My last bottle of 11. Drink up.

Bottle corked - tasted it anyway, smooth integrated tannins, fruit missing as one would expect from a corked bottle Nose was eucalyptus with damp basement undertones
