The vintage-dated 2009 was stellar, this was not. It had a sour, sulfurous nose that carried through to the palate. The acidity was somewhat harsh and unbalanced the wine. I wished for less acid (for a change) and more ripeness. Disappointing.
Chilled for 45 minutes then opened. Very clean, crisp bouquet of green apple, bosc pear, with a touch of raspberry and strawberry too. On the palate the red fruit comes out in spades, buttressed by vibrant acidity and a bit of cake frosting richness. Overall this has excellent balance and structure, is super clean and unoxidized, and finishes with a crispness that I found immensely appealing. Fantastic QPR.
