Beaucoup de Beaujolais (Monarch Restaurant, Hotel Deco, Omaha, Nebraska): Popped and poured; no formal notes. Despite being 20 years old and a 2003, it is very much alive and far from overblown, let alone tired. While certainly mature, the fruit was a very pleasant mix of ripe and dried dark fruits with some mushroom in forest floor. It is a touch mousy, but it’s hard to expect anything less considering the production methods. Drink now and over the next 5 to 10 years.

Opened my last bottle of this last weekend during a family dinner. This was drinking as good as ever 5 years after the vintage. Still had a good solid red color. Nice grip to the fruit and such a lovely round texture and mouthfeel. A great example of how a fine Cru Beaujolais can age. 92 points.

Medium-dark, cloudy garnet. Closed and even faintly off-smelling when first uncorked, this benefits greatly from a couple hours of decanting. Although it keeps a deep, even brooding character, swirling nevertheless coaxes out plenty of spicebox, ripe cherry, faint mushroom, and granitic aromas. Lush yet light on its feet, with impressively zingy acid for the year and very fine tannin. Ends with an impression of earthiness. This could go a few more years.

Tried this again at a Binny's tasting last week. Just as good as before. Simply one of the absolute best Cru Beaujolais I have ever had. 91-92 points.
