Italy Tasting @ friend's house. Medium garnet color. Pretty expressive nose of red berries (raspberries, red cherry), some dried fruit, fruit compote and some flowers (rose, violet). Medium body, medium-high acidity and medium tannins, but definitely on the dry side. It's probably a little young but I doubt that the tannins will ever fully integrate before the fruit dries out. A. Galloni (who I think very highly of) rates it 93P. In our tasting group, this was one of the least favorite wines of the night.
Smokey black olive nose, hints of sweet vanilla, which carries through to the palate with lively acid fruits. Richness and elegance leading to dry upfront tannins. Very typical of the best characteristics of Aglianico. Powerful stuff, will develop.
