  • Red fruits in the form of cherry and raspberry on the nose and palate with hints of forest floor. Firm, but well integrated tannins. A touch of spice, but not at all hot. Balanced acidity rounded it out. Became a bit astringent on the first night after the second glass, although this was not apparent on the second day. Perhaps a good decant after opening would have mitigated this. 90 pts. PJP 2015.

  • Huge disappointment. I ordered this from Bella after trying to get extra 08 maple zin. This was offered instead. My rating is too high only out of respect for Bella. This was flat, had none of the Maple 07 character present in the other dry creek vineyards' versions. The Maples should insist on immediate removal if their family name from this bottling as it clearly has no relationship to their wine growing experience in the best vintage ever. My guess is someone couldn't bottle or make the wine and this was left over or perhaps given to Bella after certain important wine making tasks had already been foresaken. I've had five day old wine better than this. Avoid this at all costs unless you just need something to water the plants with. I lost $120 bucks on three bottles. Could have bought a bottle of Opus One. Instead I got a wine I wouldn't give to beer lovers. Ok I'll stop. Hopefully the 08 is better. Haven't tried it yet.
