Tremendous acidity. Built for ages. Still a bit unbalanced, like a young grower champagne. Liked it a lot, but compared to a Pol Roger BdB 2002, it lacked class and harmony.

Served it double blind to a group of experienced wine lovers. Not one said English fizz. Majority were at a youngish (04-06) domaine champagne (accidity and rusticity) from a blend. Well, colour togehter with accidic backbone could hint at England, but it is quite a rare guest here.

The acidic backbone will keep this for a few years yet. Golden colour and mature honey notes, this may divide opinions, and probably best with food.

Golden colour gives the age away but there's still a fresh hit of lemon meringue to balance the complex bready yeasty notes.

Domaine vs Negotiant champagne tasting with a couple of ringers: Compared to Bereche Cramant 2002 this was rustic and pungent with acacia flowers on the nose. Some dirty toastiness. Seemed to have a higher dosage not entirely balanced by now.
