Classic in nature, the wine offered freshness, vibrancy, and a crisp quality to its medium-bodied, core of red fruits and herbs. The soft textured, gentle finish sealed the deal. Drink from 2023-2029.

A recently purchased bottle and an under the radar estate, this is a lovely mature Bordeaux, and decent value for money. The nose is its best feature and displays deep notes of ripe blueberry blackcurrant, with underlying menthol hints. The palate and finish lack finesse with the latter being on the shorter side and over harsh. However, that said, it is a highly enjoyable drink, but probably it is not a wine for the long haul.

The 89 Giscours shows dark blackberry and leather, vaguely pleasant though it's not a technically correct wine, showing some volatile acidity (though less than the 1990).

FWSG 1989 Bordeaux Left Bank horizontal tasting. Drank in Grassl 1855. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, garnet colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of caramel, cassis, milk tea, dried red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol, integrated high tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavoir intensity, with flavours of redcurrant, caramel, sweet licorice, cassis, dark red cherries, sweet earth, bit of milk chocolate. Long finish. Very good quality. Must have bene quite a rich wine when young. Rather sweetish now. Drink up.
