Medium bodied, both rustic and modern. The nose and palate are immediately exuberant — bursting with ripe herby red and blackcurrants, tart blueberries and blackberry, ferric soil, and plenty more for your mind to wonder through. An acidic purity to all the fruit.
Late palate starts with some cooking spices and cacao, but after an awkward 30-45 min of evolution (briefly hot) it settles into finishing like a traditional young Brunello (like ‘10-13): spiced cherries, dates, hint of saddle, gritty tannins. No sign of age yet at 15 y/o. Drink today through 2040+. Praising the gods of wine for providing a case.
Bottle #371 of 1116.

[Remainder of the Coravined bottle 3 weeks ago. These observations are mostly from Housten.] On the nose celery, dust covered ripe red fruit, raisins, licorice, floral aromatics, limestone, wedding cake icing, candied walnuts. On the palate, marzipan, dark chocolate, rich velvety dryness. paradoxical. 50 + 17 + 18 + 8 = 93.

Shy nose of sour plums, mocha, blueberries. Sweet dose of fruit on the palate with lovely clarity and depth, deep acid fruit layer at the back with great tannic drive into the lingering acid finish. Complex, enigmatic, perhaps a little jaded. 50 + 16 + 17 + 8 = 91. [Tasted with Coravin, another tasting note to come.]

Smoky, complex. Grippy tannins. Bottle seems in a good place. Very good.
