Tasty, but seemingly tiring. Lacked a bit of definition, and despite the acidity the notes were on the warmer spectrum: ripe fruit and some cocoa. A little bit of anise and truffle, and some slightly drying tannins. Decent, and nice with our pizzas, but not quite 'fine wine' on this showing.

Day 1 - Really a fabulous wine with lots of sweet cherries, spice and a bit of earth. For such an older wine, it's really very fresh and lively. Day 2 - Huge nose. Smelled of tar and dark red fruits. Tasted of tar and spice. Still had a great mouthfeel, but there was also bit of alcohol in there.

Medium to light ruby color leads to a nose of dark cherry, camphor, tea leaves and a hint of forest floor. Medium body has etherial mouth feel with wonderfully layered tea, cherry, aged balsamic vinegar. Silky finish lasts 30 seconds. Very enjoyable bottle of wine. Much better after 2 hour decant. I am not sure how much this will improve. I expect this to stay at this lovely plateau for 4 to 6 yerars.

This was really nice. Double-decanted about 3 hours before it was consumed and then in the fridge for an hour before I took it to a restaurant. Nicely full on the nose and palate, no huge complexity but lots of gorgeous fruit and lovely balance and mouthfeel. Ready to go.

Great age, classic barolo, still bright, tarry, long finish
