It should be noted, this wine requires a very long decant (at least 4 hours), otherwise your impression will be of a green and stemmy wine. After an ample amount air, the wine becomes floral in essence. Perhaps not my favorite iteration of Syrah.
Opened only about 30 minutes before tasting. Perfect match with lamb en croute (lamb wrapped in spinach, prosciutto, and puff pastry). Great syrah nose - black fruit. Same on the palate, along with traces of licorice at the end of the bottle. Huge wine, but not oppressive and not excessively tannic. Tongue-coating viscosity and a terrific finish, with a citrus-like lift at the very end. My Lesser Half says "drink now", but I say it has several years left, and - right now - it might overwhelm some foods.
Did not take notes - enjoyed with smoked chicken on the bone. This wine continutes to improve and was good to go from PNP (although it was better with some air). Flavor profile consistent with prior notes and this is just entering it's drinking window in my opinion. One of my favorite California Syrahs. Need to buy more of the current vintages. 93++
