March Madness Wine Tasting: Served blind. Caveat, palate fatigue had set in at this point in the line-up. Very young Barolo. Rough & tough yet it has an incredible nose. If drinking now, this needs a long decant and should be served with food.

Dark garnet body with slight orange edges. Some sediment.
Nose of fragrant black cherries, dried roses, tar and dark fruit.
On the palate it presents itself with nice freshness in the fruit, some deep earthy tones and a nice cherry / chocolate finish. Not totally fresh. Either it has some year to fully develop or it might need a little more decanting. This was opened at decanted for about 2 hours. It was fresh in the beginning but became a little more earthy after 3 hours.
Finely grained tannins which covers the entire mouth. Just a real pleasure to drink, but not fully convinced of its potential.

Well, this was excellent! Typical Barolo, dark but clear in the glass. Very little sediment, as it was standing for two weeks. The fruit, was dark cherry, with spice, wet red clay, some earthiness, and a little decayed leaf. This wine, although it was pretty large and a little tannic, was fluid, and very full of life. It was tasty, and stayed with me for a while after each sip. I really liked it!

Needs a lot of decanting at this stage to open up but for sure a very elegant wine. We have had this twice once 95 once a 90 and this time it was in the middle.

(Vietti Lazzarito) Deep garnet in color, showing aromas of ripe red cherry, sage, and a hint of paprika. Medium-bodied with a rich midpalate, this Lazzarito is tightly wound now, but offers impressive concentration and bracing acidity. It’s structured for 15-20 years of aging. Appellation: Serralunga d'Alba
