Screw cap closure. Medium yellow. Medium weight but increasingly creamy texture over time. Vivid orange aromatics and flavors, lots of soil throughout, and that difficult to describe je ne sais quoi that is so hard to put your finger on (and makes Gruners the most challenging varietal for me to note). Holding up very well and overall very pleasing with a variety of green spring vegetable dishes.

2008 Gruner Veltliners (Vin Vino, Palo Alto): Pungent herbs and green tones. Initially, this has a fuller entry than the Hirsch, but it becomes leaner and more austere on the finish. Dry, not fruit-driven, but it certainly possesses orange rind flavors. Expands in texture and shows attractively persistent minerality. Amongst the lighter styled wines in the tasting, this was my favorite, and I liked it much more than I did back in January.

Bottled under screw cap. Tulip color. Oregano and citrus. Fresh as can be. Wonderful glycerine texture. Orange, herb, very creamy.

Lemon on nose. Clean, bright, good acid. Short finish.

Dinner Julie Sue et al – Classic lime pepper, great with a homemade chicken noodle soup! Good zesty acidity, citrus lime molten pepper.
