Nice garnet color, nose is very pleasant with a hint of tobacco and spice. Wine really has some nice nuances, with a juicy fruit profile that is delicious without being an over the top bomb. A great blend of California with a slight nod to the old world.

Dark ruby red. Aromas of violets, white pepper, blueberry, and smoke. Medium bodied, blackberries, black cherry cola, dark chocolate, spices, sweet tannins, a tiny dash of heat, and a long dry finish. A well made, dark and stylish Merlot.

We're practicing the whole process, so: - The label was correct, the natural cork was marked "HAVENS" with their logo but no year, coloring was light with mm spikes, and no flaws. - This wine was Garnet colored, with Medium legs. - I got the aromas of Cream of Broccoli Soup, Wet Dog, Raisin, and Cranberry. - It's a bit of a Hot/Alcohol Bomb with the mouth drying tastes of Walnut, Chocolate, Cherry, Ethanol, Black Pepper, Lime, and Red Currant. - The body is Light/Medium, it is textured Leathery, and finishes Long. - We had to decant twice through the Venturi to get it to open up enough to taste much. We're wondering if it would have improved after a year or two more in the bottle.

Really enjoy the red fruit, some spice. Pretty hot though, even after several hours in the decanter.
