Big rich red fruits, a touch of spice with the rather characteristic RM vein of orange rind, although the orange was less pronounced than in some bottlings. Made in a crowd pleasing style and no rush to drink soon, I will hold off my last bottle in hopes it gains some additional complexity.
Tasted immediately after the 2007 Summa and Summa Old Vine. Enjoyable red fruit with robust spice, but there was a slightly stewed or roasted note inconsistent with another bottle from one year ago, so less pleasure. I will have to open one from my cellar in the next few months. I preferred both of the 2007s today, which is surprising given the respective vintages.
Popped and poured. Medium red ruby color. Still has plenty of life. Elegant and balances, tannin and acids are forward. Red fruit emerges in the glass, with some orange typical of Summa. Very Burgundian. Wish I had more.
