We three couples shared this when one decided to cull their cellar and offered "free wine"; everyone had a 4+ oz pour. I expect the owner paid the A Raf list price; discounts are rare, and bargains are probably from auctions or the rare non-winery closeout somewhere. Decanted, but I did not see the sediment. Off-bright dark purple with hint of amber, rich full mature berry nose, full bodied with somewhat muted fruit and very good mouthfeel; might have started decline, but it was tasty. A good example that supports A Raff's solid reputation. I believe that this was stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement, probably since purchase during an annual visit to Dry Creek Valley. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price.

Very dark in colour. Blue/blackberries, spices on the nose, very concentrated and rich. On the palate powerful and dense. The alcohol is sticking out a little, but overall very well balanced. Good length. Drink or keep. 91-93

A beautiful Zinfandel with a lot of life left in it. Drinkable for several more years.

We drank with turkey leftovers - wine went from slightly over the hill to "not even close"! It was magnificent.
