Mature, ruby red color. Earthy nose, complex, plum, figs, some glue "velpon". Sweet taste, dark fruit and plums, velvety, still quite some tannins. Tannins are mainly smooth, at the end a bit coarse, however these have mellowed out already wonderfully the last years. Finish is long and beautiful. Needs 1-2 years to smoothen further.

This one wasn't quite up to the same satndard as the last I drank. Seemed somewhat older. Still very interesting, lust lacking the "bite" I like. No tannins lift. Quite brown color. Plums, cherries, tobacco, earth.

What a pleasure to taste this wine. Bought, blind, on auction. Very aromatic. Cherries, tropical fruit, marzipan and lots of backbone. Decanted 1 hour before, and that helped. Long and fruity aftertaste. Not very strong on tannins, but ok for now. Questionable how it will perform in the long run.

I bought 12 of these at an auction and have drunk one every year. Up till now I thought this wasn't a good buy (the only bad buy at an auction, everything else has been OK): coarse tannins, hardly any fruit; however the wine improved overnight. This year it is much better. The nose is still mediocre: velpon glue and some red fruit. Taste has changed: softer tannins, fresh red fruit, cool almost Burgundy like. Amazing! I'll try again next year.

A Bunch of Wines on a Saturday Afternoon (Ken's): I would have preferred to wait on this, but I knew it would be long gone and it was sitting in the sun warming up. It is very tight right now. It is a big, tannic wine. Not much fruit showing. That said, there is a nice texture and seems to have some good stuffing. In about five years, it should be drinking much better. Make that 5 years and few months so it is not in the middle of summer. Still, with some coaxing, there is nice cherries and tar and good acidity.
