Opened with the salad course, this was drinking quite well. Honeyed apple, citrus and wet stone aromas. Full-bodied but bright, with lemon chiffon, fresh pear and stone qualities on the palate. Long finish. Excellent, and should hold at this level for a few years, though I have had a few oxidized Kistlers so would err on the side of youth. 93-94 pts.
Took 2 days to open up, strange smell to start with, almost as if it was over the top. Also quite evolved colour, dark yellow, but no browning. Then after two days in an open bottle in the fridge, it came to live with nice complex fresh and flinty nose (none of the typical butter and fatness associated with overseas chardonnay). On the palate it is still quite broad though with a mouthfilling but balanced feel. Nice but perhaps in an akward stage?
