  • Asparagus gang at Imperial Treasure. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earth, minerals, leather, gamey dark animal meat, dark red plum, bits of light wild flowers. Developed.
On the palate, dry, crunchy high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), well structured medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of gamey animal meat, earth, stony minerals, sweet red plums, ripe dark red cherries. Some herbs with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Complex, rather balanced. Well done considering the vintage. Intensity faded after about 2+ hours of air. At peak. Drink up and enjoy sooner rather than later.

  • La Nuit des Garcons (Grill Restaurant, Hong Kong Country Club, Hong Kong): Transparent, fresh and jewelled ruby colour. An alluring but understated ‘catch me if you can’ nose of sous-bois and reticent strawberry of the wild woodland variety. Palate is a surprising contrast – very rich and open…a nice combination of “rounded but still structured”. This is in a super place right now. Can give more in the future, I think. 91 for now. I really enjoyed this but preferred the contrasting subtlety of the fully mature Drouhin Clos des Mouches 1976…..too far apart to really compare .... chacun a son gout!

  • 2003 hudelot noellat clos vougeot

I've had some decent success with recent bottles of 03 so wanted to continue the run. This was Bright red in appearance. Quite rich on the nose and palate. However, more elegance on the palate where the ripeness is less obvious. Clean and pure on the finish. Overall, quite a big wine. A bit less balanced than the last bottle.

  • No doubt wine of the night. Real purity and clarity on the palate. Good density. Not obviously from a hot vintage. Showed class.

  • Wonderfully spicey and earthy, with rich burgundy flavours and an extended after taste
