Back in 2016, I paired this with duck ragu and fresh pasta. Six years later, I did the same pairing. This wine was singing. Incredibly fresh and vibrant for 26 years in bottle. One bottle was vibrant upon opening; the other needed 60 minutes in the decanter. Impressive staying power for a CCR.

Look this is an older wine and I really treated as such. I decanted it after I poured a glass. First glass...stingy on the nose with punch of dried hibiscus. Taste, acidic just a bit of roundness in the mouth. After 20 mins much more floral, still a bit of sharpness to this wine that has a lot of earthy tones to it.. This wine is pretty great as far as the secondary characteristics an older wine tends to have. It's quite soft and long on the finish....while I don't think this is at it's prime any more. It is a fine example of Chianti Riserva . Drink now....put it in your face.
