Early birthday celebration: Superb lifted nose with five spice notes, easy guess as Vosne. Was between Cathiard or H-N but when it was revealed to be the latter it could only have been a Suchots. Guessed 2010 because of the incredible balance and purity of red fruit. None of the 2008 acidity, possibly because of later picking? Love Burgundies that are so poised and delicate.

HDH auction at avec (Chicago, IL): Bright red fruit. Delicate and elegant; classic 2008 style. Comes off a little leaner and astringent, but I generally love the character of this.

Kind of shocked how taut this seemed even for the '08 vintage, and frankly a lack of both depth and of the spice notes I would have preferred. Made the '11 of the exact same wine consumed two nights prior seem outright voluptuous!

Red fruited, some vosne spices and a nice mineral structure - in fact you can sense some of the 2008-acidity traits but it is nicely integrated. Compared to some other vintages it has a bit less depth but it is certainly a well-made, elegant and balanced wine. It is in the zone to drink now.

Nose: spices, rice cake, rose petals, pu-er tea, mandarin peel Notes: Tasted together with 2006 and the 2008 is a lot more ready than the 2006. The 2008 has a great nose with very appealing aroma but I must say the palate doesn't live up to the nose and comparatively the palate is a little weak comparing to the nose. I think this does not require further cellaring and it is good to drink now. Drink: now+ Rating: 90
