Wine Tasting Group: 2007's from around the world (Our house): Largely consistent with my previous notes. This wine took a while to show its stuff and got better through the course of the 2-hour tasting. Gorgeous nose of red fruits, with forest floor and eucalyptus (?) or something similar. Really nice. On the palate, it is medium weight with typical Cab flavors and good balancing acidity. No gloppiness or heat. The finish was initially disjointed and a bit astringent, but this got better as it took on air. This is certainly drinkable now, but I think it will be substantially better in a few years. Will hold off on my remaining 4 bottles. Would buy more if I could find it around $50-55 again. My #1. Group's #1.
Lots of like left here as it needed a long decant to round into shape. Good balance, plush fruit on entry and suede like mouthfeel. Not as much complexity or finish as I think will come with more bottle age. Some char and cocoa notes on finish. Very nice! Great QPR
On Easter Sunday, I served with a leg of lamb, done with a stoneground mustard based coating. An hour before dinner I Zozled it into a decanter, poured it back into the bottle and then Zozled it again into the decanter and let it sit.
OMG was it delicious. Rich fruit flavor, tremendous balance and length of finish. This wine has years in front of it. My only regret is that I only have 2 other bottles. One of the most enjoyable bottles I've opened in a long time.
