Darker sweet fruit and lower acidity. This perfectly fine to drink and has smoothed out into an easy drinking red Burgundy. However, it definitely suffers from hot year syndrome. There is a noticeable lack of acidity, leaving this wine lacking verve and structure. The tannins have smoothed out and this has nicer dark fruits and a touch of sweet red fruit. It's good and the class is evident but anyone drinking an 03 should be prepared for a fruitier, more forward version of the wine.
notes of cherry, strawberry, mineral notes. Mineral notes accentuated with eating portabello mushrooms with anchovies, carrots brought out fruit character, snap peas did not pair well, pommes anna went well with the acidity, pork roast with Dijon worked well with note of lemon and raspberry popping out. Roasted rosemary sprigs brought out cherry notes. And then with tarte tatin dessert, strong notes of rhubarb developed. Overall, lovely balance, structure, mouthfeel. We really enjoyed this!
