  • Decanted and consumed over 3 hours. I've followed this wine for 7 years, this was my 5th bottle out of a case purchased on release. Its evolving positively and is starting to get into a really nice drinking zone. The color shows no sign of age; it's a a deep black/red hue. The nose is turing more earthy, with mineral driven soil and some desiccated cherry and plum notes. Energetic palate, lively and spicy with some black fruit notes. The mouth feel is really silky with a saline quality to the texture, and again lots of energy for the vintage.

  • Earthy and spicy with wood root and subtle berry fruit. Long finish with silky smooth integrated tannin. Lacking a little acidity and freshness.

  • Full-bodied and complex on the palate. Fruit was alive and focused and it finished with a lingering excellence.

  • Darker sweet fruit and lower acidity. This perfectly fine to drink and has smoothed out into an easy drinking red Burgundy. However, it definitely suffers from hot year syndrome. There is a noticeable lack of acidity, leaving this wine lacking verve and structure. The tannins have smoothed out and this has nicer dark fruits and a touch of sweet red fruit. It's good and the class is evident but anyone drinking an 03 should be prepared for a fruitier, more forward version of the wine.

  • notes of cherry, strawberry, mineral notes. Mineral notes accentuated with eating portabello mushrooms with anchovies, carrots brought out fruit character, snap peas did not pair well, pommes anna went well with the acidity, pork roast with Dijon worked well with note of lemon and raspberry popping out. Roasted rosemary sprigs brought out cherry notes.
And then with tarte tatin dessert, strong notes of rhubarb developed.
Overall, lovely balance, structure, mouthfeel. We really enjoyed this!
