My second and last bottle. Slightly better than the prior bottle. Beautiful rich golden hue. Needed and hour to aerate and release its aromas and flavors to their fullest extent. At this stage, oak seems to predominate over the muted pear and somewhat tropical aromas. Don't think this is getting batter, but rather should be drunk now... And probably better a year ago.
Not a great deal of change in the past 10 months or so. Dark gold showing age. Still has initial oak that blows off quickly. Then, pretty tropical fruit with honey, vanilla and toast. Last bottle for me, but curious how this will develop from here.
Opened for 1.5 hrs before serving. Needs a 1+ hr decant IMO. This is a big wine, similar to the 2007 served with the previous course. Mis-paired with a crab salad, this wine needs heavier food (chicken, pasta) to shine. Served vs. the 2008 Ramey Ritchie and the additional oak/extract was evident -- with a delicate food I preferred the Ramey.
Drank from Mag. No decant. Medium cut in the mouth. Citrus flavors with a creamy almost carmel finish. Very Good but not quite up to the level of other Ritchie bottle's in the intensity of the fruit and verve on the plate. A hour in a decanter would have helped in my experience with Aubert wines.
