  • Butter, caramel, citrus - is it botrytis or just overripe? OK, not compelling.

  • California Wine Weekend; 12/1/2023-12/3/2023 (Mos Eisley Cantina & Waterhouse Restaurant): This is a truly noteworthy wine with a caramel color at this point in its life. Slightly oxidative style with rich honeysuckle, sweet pineapple, and a grilled peach note. A bit of steel wool and burnt match as well. Many compared this to the white wines of the southern rhone, and I really see it.

    60% Roussanne and 40% Chardonnay

  • All the components are there for a wonderful taste, just not the WOW it probably had in its youth.

  • Decanted and served immediately. Wonderfully fragrant nose, initially lots of sugar cane, very floral with lots of orange blossom. Unfortunately this wine was much too oxidized, and the color was already orange. Finish was very short with metallic notes. The metallic flavors got more prominent with the pomfret. With more aeration the nose became toasty, and showed lots of coffee and mocha. Loved the wine for its nose all the way till the end, more than 3 hours later.

  • Kleur: Medium goudgeel Aroma / bouquet: Bedwelmend bouquet. Subtiel oxidatief. Boenwas, caramelstokjes (creme brûlee), beboterd brioche-brood. Smaak / Afdronk: Indrukwekkend geconcentreerde wijn. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 10 = 97/100

Color: Medium golden yellow Aroma / bouquet: Intoxicating bouquet. Subtle oxidative. Scrub wax, caramel sticks (creme brulee), buttered brioche bread. Taste / Aftertaste: Impressively concentrated wine. On the one hand oxidative and ripe but at the same time a beautiful vitality. Thick, juicy, concentrated, harmonious and layered. General / potential: One of my most mature white SQNs ever. According to Robert Parker, now generously over the top, in my opinion still beautifully drinkable. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Taste / Finish: 18 + General / potential: 10 = 97/100
