Nose: strawberry, spices, grass, hints of cherry, hints of mandarin peel, hints of rose Notes: Drank from a magnum, pop and poured. Elegant and gentle nose. I think the nose is quite outstanding and actually exceeded my expectations. I've always liked D'Arlot wines and they are indeed one of the best makers in Nuits Saint Georges who makes wines with a house style rather than expressing the terroir (some people would dislike that). The nose shows very intense and intoxicating aromas of strawberries and red fruits and it is drinking very nicely now. I'd say this should be consumed now as there shouldn't be much more room for development in the future. Drink: now+ Rating: 90

Tasted at a gallery reception. Quick notes: noticeable oak; light to medium weight in body; restrained red cherry fruit; ends with a semi dry bright and slightly tart cherry finish. Good.
My impression was that it had not been stored well recently as the server had no idea where it came from or how long it had been in storage at the gallery.

The previous note by Deux Chevaux is for a lovely bottle of this wine that we shared six months ago in Paris. This note is from a bottle opened in the US and shows yet again that European wines don't taste as good after shipping to the US. Plenty of reduction when the wine is first opened, and it more or less continued for the rest of the evening. The wine has silkiness of texture and red cherry fruit, but it is muddied and dulled by the earthiness of the reduction. (Rate: 90) The following morning, the wine is much better, reduction gone, and the red cherry fruit is pure and precise with silkiness and yet some underlying structure. (Rate: 93) Cellared since original release.

The nose was fabulous — musky dark complex cherry and a bit of barnyard. Unlike a few prior notes, we found this the opposite of austere; it was quite generous and friendly — yet powerful, with a hint of astringency. One of the most enjoyable NSGs in our memory/ experience, and we think this is drinking beautifully right now. (At Le Petit Verdot.)

Drinking splendidly. Crisp fruit & acidity, expressive. Harmonious. Well weighted
