It took quite a while for this wine to come out of its shell (2+ hours), but once it did, it was a pleasant experience. Had a level of acidity that was a bit surprising and fairly thin for Pauillac. Some fruit, but mostly tertiary notes. Tobacco, cedar.

A 3hr slow-ox in Reidel BDXs & btl prior to dinner did the trick. Drinking so much better than my first un-impressive btl back in 2014 & there's still some upside, I think. With just one btl though, no regrets where we found it. Classic Pauillac with cigar ash, berries & forest floor on the nose. Lead pencil, more cigar and red fruit on an elegant mostly resolved palate. Very enjoyable with Nita's cast iron flank steak. Purchased a few years down the road from release but spent most its time in my wine cabinet. Served in the high 50s/low 60s.

Stunning and full of tertiary notes with some primary fruit still going strong and a well balanced mouthfeel. Classic Pauillac that still has 5-10 years ahead.

(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) Dark red violet color with slight bricking; aromatic, tart red currant, cedar, tobacco, toast nose; tasty, silky textured, tart red currant, cedar, toast, torrefaction palate with near medium acidity; medium-plus finish
(Chateau Pichon Lalande) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-a little stinkified; some plum and licorice action; definite stinky beef jerky and a little pepper; a little blueberry; very aromatic; PALATE-bigger and meatier; big structure; has some really firm and tough tannins that some will be not love, but this is still quite youthful; this is Bordeaux at it's best as it can age; really sour cherries are dominating the mid-palate; pencil shavings coming through; also an intriguing mushroom component that I really like; this is young, but this is still so darn drinkable; RP-93; GV-90+
(CHATEAU PICHON LALANDE) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-awesome; meaty/fleshy component (Boars Head Ham); V8 juice w/ Tabasco sauce; underlining licorice aspect; TASTE-take a plum...wrap bacon around it..put it in a Microwave for 5 minutes (let plum explode)…take it out...slap on some black pepper & asparagus..THAT's exactly what this wine tastes like..and ME LIKE-Y; Bacon & Plum on your mouth all day...attacking; this is Old World; really beautiful; the Petite Verdot is singing (dark Plum); this is REAL Bordeaux; will last 10-20 years; RP-93; GV-94+
(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) Raspberry and caramel nose with herbal notes; very tasty, focused palate of cassis, plum, with coffee notes and herbal edges, quite elegant; medium-plus finish
(Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande) Roasted fruit and olive nose; tastes like a southern French concoction of plum and fig, dusty and earthy; medium finish
