2002 Champagne and Burgundy dinner with Eric (Chez Billy Sud - Washington DC): Ripe candied fruit, custard and strong presence of mineral - more steel than limestone. Excellent concentration, dense yet youthful, sweet yellow fruit driven palate impression, good acidity, mineral and clean medium finish. Not terribly precise and a bit heavy due to dense and ripe fruit. Very good but not exceptional.
Has some almond butter and citrus on the nose. It is full and rich with some brulee development. The typical Roulot citrus kicks in at the finish and there is plenty of minerality to the wine. Pretty close to peak drinking.
A strong scent of struck match greets the nose. There's some green melon and a big squeeze of citrus. The palate has a dollop of butter and a streak of minerality. It is rich but light and airy. Lovely restraint and class.
