There was once a time where I considered this my house wine. Since then it has fallen from my graces. Being a pragmatist; I think its not the wine that has changed, it is my palate. These days I think I expect more from my Cabernet, more that the usual, so when the usual shows up I am....nonplussed. This wine is such a wine. its made well, and delivers the goods, but Mike does not live there anymore.
Nose of cassis, blackberries and bramble with a bit of cough syrup thrown in. Palate shows deeps black fruits, those usually found in....Cabernet! I get black cherries, black currant, blackberries and plum skins. I also get hints of cardamom, sassafras, pomegranate and cedar. its perfectly aged and fully mature. Balance is decent and finish long. Maybe a redemption of sorts, since the last one I had in 2008 did not fare as well. All there, just lacking some flash. Blame it all on me.

Last bottle of six. Held up well. Berry, vanilla and coffee undertones on the front. Not a big finish.

Opened wonderfully after decanted for an hour. Good finish. Surprised it's held up so well after almost 15 years.

Eartjy, soft, seems to have lost its legs - but drank two days after bringing it crosss country - may have needed time to settle.
