At 2 years this was a flinty almost Chablis-like wine (in sharp contrast to the 2006 and 07 vintages). With time it has evolved into an enjoyable mature soft chardonnay with broad complex flavours. Not great but certainly VG at this stage. needs to be consumed not kept.

Earthy with some malo influence, lemon curd and toast. Full bodied on the palate, it is quite rich but has good acid. Some nutty complexity here as well, even though it is still fairly youthful. A likeable wine and I preferred it to the 2009.

After tasted all other Kumeu River Chardonnay I am now back to revisit this wine. This bottle has developed futher than my previous tasting, more depth of flavour although freshness has faded a bit. Straw yellow, very typical nose of Chardonnay with pear, tropical fruits, yellow fruits and hints of smoke and nuttiness. This seems to gain more weight as it aged, exhibit ripe pear, ginger, melon and subtle smoky nuances on palate. Still got the racy acidity and nice & clean finish.

Pale lemon gold colour. Rather subdued nose; hints of citrus and floral, light oak possibly, interesting. Light initial impression in the front palate, delicate, but finishes with flavoursome long finish underpinned by oak. Initially seemed a bit disappointing but actually finely poised, well made wine.
