The nose was all about the honey coated orange, apricot, pineapple and candied lemon peel perfume. Smooth, sweet and luscious on the palate, the fruit in the end notes had peppy acidity and a melange of honeyed orange, tropical fruit and apricot flavors that made you want to reach for another sip.
Light yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of honeysuckle, apricot, verbena and soft brown spices. Flavors of lemon curd, honey and roasted almonds. Medium to bright acidity, full bodied. Drink or hold. No rush.
Had to dump one "wicked corked" bottle to get to this second delightful version. Deep golden hue, well balanced. Not unctuous, just right down the alley of a good Sauternes profile. Apricot, touch of candied orange. Fresh, ready now but no rush. The first of my '01s that I've dipped into.
