Decanted - a substantial deposit is to be expected. After 2h, Very deep opaque colour with a very high level of extraction. Powerful, persistent nose with black cherries, damsons, plums. Sweet black cherries on the palate with a rich 'luxury' vanillic oak background but with good balancing acidity. Touches of cardomom, leather and orange developed. Excellent with rare sirloin and, later, with soft blue cheese. After 4h, all black fruits with blackcurrant fruit (and acidity) foremost. A very good wine that really develops in the glass. This wine reaches the standard of earlier vintages for me. Younger vintages should be cellared to allow full development IMO. It has a few years in it yet, I think.
