Citrus, sweet red fruit, cinnamon, vr spice and flowers on the nose. Palate is very transperent and expressive. Impressive for a village. Well its liger belair. 92+

(Brought to Lieffroy,DK) A nice treat this evening. Seemed a bit closed and giving little away. Quite musky and earthy. Strawberries shining through though. Good acidity and long aftertaste. Had the '07 not too long ago and it was more ready to drink.

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Tasting (St Regis, Singapore): The pick of the 4 village wines on tasting, I thought this was the most complete of the quartet and very impressive indeed for a wine of its level. It had an absolutely beautiful nose, with a hint of savoury mushroomy undertones along with the typical toasty spice and mineral notes of a young Liger-Belair wine, all with deeply settled dark cherry aromas - a great fragrance. It was very delicious on the palate too. A little more grippy than the 2013 La Colombiere I thought, with a slightly powdery tannic structure and a bite of citrusy acidity peering out form amidst its sour plum and dark cherriy flavours. Past that, there was an underlayer of fresh mint and mineral, a little hint of oak, and a finish that showed quite a bit of subtle length as it drifted away with a touch of brambly herb. There was a very bright, fresh core to the fruit on the attack and midpalate, but the wine felt just a little leaner and more austere towards that finish, so that it came across rather tight and very masculine overall. This actually lacked some of the perfumy charm of the 2013, which spent its elevage in a warmer cellar and under less oak influence, with bigger barrels being introduced – all right steps I think, for I liked the evolution when tasting side-by-side. However, at the moment, the 2008 somehow came across just that bit fuller and more complete. This has developed nicely since I last had it some 4 years back, but it still has some room to grow and should age pretty well in the next say 6-8 years. A very good village indeed.

A big village wine but heavy toasty oak on the nose. Partly reduced also. It got a little better with air and time. The oak really makes the wine dificult to read but also some black and blue fruits. Overall way to expensive for the price and not really worth the money.

Already very much evolved, limit ox but still elegant. Should not have waited so long
