  Part of a vertical of 96/00/01/04. This was an exceptionally good bottle, though still young. Incredible freshness, acidity to balance bright red and blue fruit notes. Oak well balanced and integrated at this point. Developed more complexity and depth over the 3-4 hours of the evening, suggesting a great future ahead. In many ways, seemed similar to the 2000 with it's more lithe nature, but may develop an even greater depth with a few more years in cellar.

  Solid, but not exceptional. Nice dark cherry red color, the nose features red fruits, oak spice, vanilla, little bit of pencil lead shavings too. Nice upfront flavors of dark red fruits like black cherry, currants, and a little Bing cherry as well. The fruit holds nicely into the mid-pallette, then fades into the finish where slightly drying tannins take notice. Notes of vanilla and spice also emerge on the medium long finish which is why this wine didn't score higher as it was just a bit short at the end. I see this wine holding nicely for at least 5 more years under proper storage conditions, but not sure it will improve much. Made in more of an international style

  Probably the nicest wine my husband and I have had since we started caring about wine a year and a half ago. Delicious. Loved by everyone we shared it with.

  Wonderful wine, all that you want in a wonderfully aged Rioja, really, really enjoyed this and this one of the best wines we've had this year - Dark, with amber rim, full bodied with a nose of plum, cherry, cedar, tobacco and vanilla, excellent integration and complexity, velvety smooth on the palate with terrific length, spectacular wine (94 Points).
