  • A boundless breadth and depth of perfume. The scents themselves had texture. Thick, velvety, gentle, dignified, alluring, cozy as an alpaca sweater. Took my breath away. Sweet mulling spices, gravy, and musk. Could not keep my nose out of this glass. A perfume you could honestly wear.

Silken with some lushness and with complex but direct flavors ranging from sweet fire to spice to ocean ray. Shows its gorgeous age on its declining dusty long tail. Accelerating evolution after a couple of hours in the decanter getting edgier with air, gaining more complexity but losing some of its initial charm. Did not unravel in its four+ hours. This is so finely and remarkably balanced it's got years and years ahead of it.

As if that weren’t enough, the four of us were at at Melisse in Santa Monica where I got the Milbrook Farms Venison in two perfect medium-rare medallions with celeriac, chanterelles, rosehip, dark chocolate, and molasses. Wow: for the dish, the pairing, the attentive and charismatic service, and above all the company. Historic!
