  Popped-and-poured. Great nose with dried red berries, dried rose petals and savory spice. Less enticing flavors are tasty, but firm structure provides a slightly bitter finish. 30 minutes of air made the nose even more endearing, the palate more austere. 90+ point nose, 85- point flavors.

  Bottle not in the best condition. In the glass clear but with clear mahogany notes. Not the most expressive nose. Oxidative notes on the attack but then a very pretty mid-palate with plenty of herbs in balance with some earth and finely textured fruit. Very good length. Better bottles should be a solid 93 in my eyes

  A 40th Birthday Celebration (River North, Chicago IL): Popped and poured, then tasted 3 times over an hour. Black and red cherry, nicely mature with excellent concentration. Roasted meat character with slowly cooked mushrooms. Very elegant and balanced, especially for the vintage. Wow.

  Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 4/1/2016-4/2/2016 (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): Cork showed some signs of leakage, which I think adversely affected what has previously been a simply great wine. Today there was just almost no remaining fruit to complement the earth and mushroom notes. Interesting and enjoyable, but frankly just hints of enjoyment.
