Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Bought this bottle in Beaune with the intention of taking it home to Australia but once we hit Piedmont I checked on it and it had started to leak. I was not going to trust the utmost respect with which international baggage handlers subtly load wines into the cargo hold so decided to open it straight away.

The colour was still good, the nose was all fino Sherry with some mushroom and truffle. In the mouth it was sweet and vinous yet tinged with all sorts of savoury mushroom and earth nuance. There were no caramel notes but it tasted old. It finished quite long and was a tasty curio.
