Sweet red fruit, floral, lacy cherry acidity, some blue fruit in the mix, strawberry, earthy, very toned but it is deep down a ripe and flashy wine, just restrained at showing so. What an interesting vintage! 93-94

Mazoyères-Chambertin Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Served single blind in Rousseau vertical, this bottle was opened 60 minutes before serving but not decanted. Great fill, great color, in fact it was tough to tell which of the 4 glasses was the '76 just from the color, even with the others 20+ years younger. Lots of advanced red fruit and meaty spice aromas. Lacy and elegant with very good textures and moderate weight. Thanks, Gary!

Another Monday Burgundy Lunch (The Glasshouse, Kew, London): The Rousseau Charmes is always pretty but can be light and insubstantial, but this was a stunner, radiant with its red fruit, lifted, vibrant and with the weightlessness that comes with age. A real thrill.

Lovely, floral and delicate. Strawberries, spice, stems and perfume on the nose. Red fruit driven palate with good density. 93-94
