  • Loads of black currant and delicate vanilla on the nose alongside tomato leaf. Same in the palette with plenty of wet bark, currants, baking spices. Some licorice on the finish and some beautiful light oak vanilla. After a few hours plenty of Christmas cake on nose and palette. Seventh wine of the night and was the best.

  • 90 minute double decant having been stood up for five days. Upper top shoulder. Cork sunk into the neck upon opening. Drank 10 hours after it was first decanted. Opaque, medium purple fading to pale ruby edge. Still very youthful with black and blue fruit dominating the nose showing blackcurrants, blackberries, blueberry, and cassis. Pyrazines are evident in the form of tomato leaf and bell pepper with soy sauce and baking spices adding additional layers. The palate shows more mineral elements of graphite and iiodine coupled with black and blue fruits.

  • The leftover from a bottle a friend of mine opened two days ago. Allegedly, the filling-level was lower mid shoulder. The wine was medium garnet in colour and threw some sediment. It offered red fruit as well as herbal and sous-bois notes on the nose, and red fruit, cherry, blackberry, leather, tobacco, mushroom, spices and some liquorice as well as herbal notes on the palate, with good, fresh acidity, some tannin and very good length. The Cab Franc came through quite a bit and I am wondering what the blend is. A little rustic, but quite intriguing, with good complexity. The wine drank well on its own as well as paired with a variety of grilled meats, but did not pair well with a Bolivar Royal Coronas cigar. Drink now.
