Offering loads of earthy, dark herbs, wet earth, tobacco and plums, the wine starts out firm before becoming softer on the palate with its burnt cocoa, earth and dark cherry toned finish. This classic Pomerol is fully developed. Drink it if you have any left in your cellar.

61s at 61 (Bourbon Steak, Aventura, Florida): The starter wine for the ‘61 Bordeaux horizontal, the Le Gay showed surprisingly well for a property not renown in this vintage. The color displayed good saturation almost to the rim. The fruit is definitely alive, unique and nicely fragrant, with a touch of red to blend with the black. Held up rather well in the glass for a couple of hours before fading. The group favorite of the Flight 1.

Firm style of Pomerol, slightly better on the nose with its port-like aromatics that come along with smoky plums, herbs, truffle and cigar box scents. Concentrated, long and dense, without much sensuous elegance. However, the power, depth and length kept you interested.

Drank at iconic Tan Dinh in consult with Freddie. PNP immediate nose of damp earth and truffles. Just lovely, drinking incredible fully resolved tannins with balance, elegance and freshness.

Drank at Sampler in London. Sweet sour cherries red fruits Forrest floor. Some sewage. Rather tired on palate still some fruits. Not much finish and some musky after taste.
