Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 87.3 points

  • Further to my Note of Sept 7, '18; this is #6. Solid cork. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Medium purple; mature red plum, some baking spice, hint of cremini mushroom; mature fruit, some garrigue, held well over 2-hour dinner, good mouthfeel. Holding well, certainly tasty and enjoyable. Consistent with notes from another bottle from last year. At least Notable.

  • Bought a 12b case from Flickinger for 15/b 15 years ago. Decanted with normal sediment. Very good dark color; faded fruit on the nose; mature red fruit flavors--some overripe red cherry, hint of pepper. Past its prime but enjoyable with Costco roast chicken. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase; lost track of the case until recently. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price.
