Wow I hate this wine. It shows classic notes of sour cherry and leather on the nose, a bit of flower hints as well. The leather became more pronounced as it opened up bordering on oak. Then the taste - great fruit underlying the wine ruined by the furry oak boards used for elevage. Wow this sucked because the wine could have been so great but was brought down and masked by the oak. Nice delicate flavors for the fruit but really an oak marred effort. I do not get the attraction of these big wines overwhelmed by oak. Might as well drink scotch if that is what you like.
Notes entirely consistent with last bottle. Holding up just fine, evidently. In a nice drinking window -- hard to see it being a lot better than this, but at the same time there's no reason to rush to drink it; trajectory seems to suggest that it will be in this range for many years....
Drinking through dumb stage now, but still very tasty. Rich, classic aromas, dark garnet in glass, showing leading flavors of black cherry, tar, leather and cigarbox, with soft, sweet tannins in background. Medium finish. About a year or two from peaking.
