Dark garnet with heavy bricking, big nose of black cherry, black currant, black raspberry, hint of Asian spice and game, mature fruit on the palate with raisins, mission fig, dried cherries, well integrated tannins and buffering acidity, finishes with mature fruit flavors of fig paste, prune, and mushroom with hints of orange peel, baking spices, and slightly drying tannins

Decanted. Appearance - medium depth, brick core and tawny/orange rim. Nose - medium intensity, very savoury as expected for its age, leather notes dominate with some red fruit and roasted meats and a hint of oak. Palate: some acidity still there balancing soft tannins. Medium bodied, great balance, long finish. Excellent.

Vinosphere (Town Hall, Sydney): Red berry, earth, leather, gamey, meaty, savoury. More of the same on the palate, fine tannins are near resolved. Rather splendid and recollected earlier "tending to Pinot" thoughts I've had with Mont Redon's older vintages

Chateauneuf du Pape (Bronte, Sydney): good red colour with clear bricking. Clean pure nose, not much sign of development, a little earthy with ripe mixed berries. Extremely smooth with excellent weight and a good solid structure, still has nice tannins. Powerful and surprisingly youthful, a blend of dark fruits and earth. Aged characters are in the background only, just a light richness. Superb.

From a 3L. Musty, dark with some sweet berries. Dirty and tart. Musty, animale finish, tart too. Folks said this got a lot better later, but I didn't get back to it. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 13.5/20
