Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 90.5 points

  • A bit light initially. Put on some weight with some spice and dusty tannins. Light red fruit. Pleasant but probably on a decline and not as fine as the 95 Suchots or 95 Echezeaux.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes. Color is medium ruby with mild bricking, and body is medium in weight. On the nose, red fruits, forest floor, and some orange rind that receded over time. On the palate, pure dried black cherry essence. The balance was excellent, and the wine had a great velvety mouthfeel with soft, well-resolved tannins. There was a long satisfying finish of 30+ seconds. Tried one bottle of this last week that turned out disappointing...it had been a leaker with a low fill. That bottled weighed in at 89 points for me...the fruit was muted and the wine oxidized. Just had to try another soon, and this bottle was thankfully much, much better!

  • Decanted for 30 minutes. Color is medium ruby with fairly significant bricking, and body is medium in weight. On the nose, earthy, wet leaves, red fruits that gained strength over time, and a slight menthol whiff. On the palate, soft raspberries and some mushrooms. Balance was good, and the finish decent at 20 seconds. I was pretty worried about this bottle as the cork was wet all the way through and there was dried seepage under the capsule. The fill was also noticeably lower than my other two bottles. In the end, my guess is that this bottle has been prematurely aged...I'll obviously know more after I open up the next one. The wine was not spoiled, but the fruit was less present than I hoped, and the color showed obvious oxidation. It definitely benefited from the decant and some time to open up, but this bottle clearly was ready to be consumed now...it was on its downslope.
