In a gorgeous late peak drinking window with mature, yet still fresh and bright fruit with lovely emerging honey nuances throughout the still fresh, ripe orchard fruits. Excellent depth and concentration.

M&PD Tasting: Lark (Seattle, WA, USA): Deep, mineral, salty, lime zest, notes of salt marsh next to the ocean, mmmm, surprisingly brawny, long. Impressive.

A tour-de-force wine, so much depth and power…. Yet, it would also have been better without the touch of oxidation. The oxidation was more pronounced on the nose than the palate, but it knocked off a few points without a doubt.

My heart sank when I opened this: very dark colour. And the initial impression on the nose is of over-ripe apple. With time though this settles down a bit and the signature mint emerges. On the palate those ripe apples reappear, and an initially very acidic profile rounds out with air. The texture is pleasantly rich but the wine is flat compared to where it should be. The flavours are very evolved and this has clearly started to oxidise but it’s not unpleasant.

P&P. curious showing tonight. nice nose, a bit of wood and reduction, yellow fruits. the palate is powerful but was missing a bit of zip. it felt quite sweet for a dry wine. no residual sugar but definitely on the sweeter side. the bottle was like some previous tasting.
