The wine was a touch cloudy, with a brickish red hue moving to clear on its edges with a core of light red. The nose was faint and was just holding on with notes of cola, earth and a slight game quality. With time, the nose opened up more and became more expressive. In the mouth, it was elegant and restrained with bruised strawberries and sweet cherries upfront moving seamlessly to velvet soft, dark tannins that still remained structured. Both the sommelier and I commented that it was drinking like a 1990 rather than a 1976.
