I was always puzzled why the short-lived Chinese Lafite fetish extended to Carruades, but not to Duhart-Milon. This was bought not long ago on the cheap and delivers a legitimately Lafite-like experience. A classic Pauillac with the usual cedary aromatics and a pitch-black fruit complexion, even a bit of nuttiness. The texture is slick and glossy and while there is still some tannin here it's mostly smoothed over. Very easy drinkability here and while it may not have the dimensions of Lafite it's got very much the same taste, and even a lot of the elegance.
Jimmy's btl and a very pleasant surprise. Unlike many BDXs this one has a burgundian weight and feel to it but with classic BDX flavors. I loved it and would have enjoyed drinking the whole btl with a meal. Still very youthfully vibrant and likely will improve further.
A French Night at La Belle Vie with a lot of Burgs and Some Others (La Belle Vie, Mpls): Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank 1 glass over an hour or so. Well, we were supposed to be drinking a '01 Cos and instead found ourselves savoring this little gem. Our good fortune because this was oh so good. Frankly, I'm amazed by the gorgeous fruit; remarkable blue and pure with blueberry and boysenberry on tp of hints of darker bright cassis. The palate follows with the same purity of fruit that you just don't seem to see in that many of the '95 Bordeauxs. REally silky texture and a long inviting finish make this a wine that is quite hard to put down. I'd be looking for this; in a prime drinking window. 92+pts.
Cherry red with bricking and sediment. N-opens after 1 hr..soft blackberry, currant, cedar, cigar box....opened well. P-still has some acidity, soft tannins, low-medium alcohol with cassis, currant, cigar, cedar...pretty wine, lighter than expected
Left bank bordeaux and not a bad vintage - ruby color - nose with hints of blackberries and oak - taste still with a little fruit and graphite - smooth but not a long finish - not so excellent as expected
